Labor Of Love Childbirth Education

Dear Mom,

Thank you for choosing to welcome me here in the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Labor Of Love.  It is sure to be a memorable event.  While we're waiting for that grand day, there are many things to do.  I'm doing all I can from the inside to grow and be strong.  Adorable doesn't even begin to describe this little person.  There are things you need to do too.  It's great the way you are watching what you eat, exercising, getting plenty of rest, and doing everything those wonderful people at the birth center suggest.  In addition to all that, I hear there are great classes we should go to.  The childbirth educator's are interested in preparing us for our day.  They can tell you all about it.  I'll be seeing you soon!

Love,  Your Baby.

That's right Moms, just like baby said, there are classes that you should and must attend, according to Florida State Law, in order to have your baby in a birth center.  Our classes are as follows:

 Healthy Pregnancy Classes
(4-20 weeks)- Recommended for, but not exclusive to first time Moms.  All others are welcome.  This class covers nutrition, exercise, coping with common discomforts, prenatal testing/office visits, and planning ahead.

 Labor & Delivery Series
(30-36 weeks)- A three-week series required for all first time Moms and Moms delivering in a birth center for the first time.  The topics include making a birth plan, what to bring, exercises and nutrition for birth, anatomy/physiology of labor & delivery, signs of labor, coping skills, your stay at the birth center, postpartum care for mom and baby immediate and at home, and much more.

 Refresher Class
(34-37 weeks)- One night class required for all Moms who have delivered at least one baby in a birth center.  Topics are the same as for Labor & Delivery series but condensed.

 Breastfeeding Class
for all interested, a one night course covering preparation for breastfeeding, benefits, how to, and handling common problems.  This class will be scheduled as requested by demand.

 Waterbirth Class
Required for all clients who are planning a waterbirth. This class will enable moms and partners to make an informed decision about choosing waterbirth.

 Sibling Class
A time to instruct big brother or big sister about Mommy's growing tummy, the coming event, and living with a baby.  This class will be scheduled as requested by demand and structured to suit the ages and needs of the children scheduled.  This class will be approx. one hour.

All classes, except sibling, are from 7-9pm.  We will assign you to the classes that are required and those that you have requested.  Childcare is not available, so please make arrangements accordingly.  We look forward to meeting and assisting you in making your birth a true Labor Of Love.

Thank you, Labor of Love, Childbirth Educators
